Since the separation announcement last week, Robin Thicke has publicly made it known he wants his woman back. He has sent multiple dozen of rose bouquets, cancelled a couple of concerts to try to reconcile with Paula and recently at his concert in Washington D.C. publicly stated to his crowd:
“For those who don’t know, my wife and I separated a few days ago. Yeah… I want everyone in here to know that I’m trying to get my girl back. You know, she told me you should go out there and tell the truth. You should tell them that you are trying to get her back. She’s a good woman, you know. It’s hard to sit here in front of everybody, but you know what I want you to help me with, I want you to help me with this next song. If you got somebody with you tonight that you love, and you appreciate, hold on tight to them. Take care of them. I want to dedicate this song to her. I wrote this about her, and I need y’all help to get through it.”
Meanwhile, Paula stated the following on her Instagram account:
“If you love something let it go, If it comes back to you it’s yours, If it doesn’t, it never was and it’s not meant to be.”
My Insights!
Well, I will say Robin Thicke public display of expressing his desire to get his woman back is big of him and much-needed. Considering his public display of disrespect to his marriage, by being overly flirtatious with other women where one has been more vocal of his not so pure intentions. However, I also believe fame got to him. Both of them have been together since teenagers, all they know is each other. I could see how curiosity got the best of him.
Now if a man publicly pleaded his desire to get back to me, I would likely be a sucker and forgive him, if I believe he is sincere. He is pulling out the stops. However, I would take things slowly, start by dating each other again and make sure that the issues could really be resolved. Afterall there is history, a child and love for each other. I still would be open-minded and enjoy the perks of being single, even if it is just for a brief moment. Not necessarily date, but maybe selfish and focus entirely on me without thinking of my former other half. If the infidelity claims are true, while two people can work through those issues, it is not easy. Two people have to be willing to the work to attain reconciliation and forgiveness. Not everyone can forgive infidelity.
I truly believe in the words of Paula Patton’s Instagram message. Sometimes you have to let go of loved ones, if it is you they want, they will be back. Refer to “Sometimes It Is Not Holding On That Provides Strength, But Letting Go”
